Name: Marcus Natale

Position: MYP

Constituency:
Plymouth

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Since the run up to the 2010 general election I have become more passionate about political education or rather the lack of political education in schools. Of course it varies between school to school how much you learn during citizenship and PHSE lessons but, it is imperative that young people have the opportunity to make their own minds up about politics and not be susceptible to media and parental influences.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

Bus fares for certain are especially important. For young people they dictate what we can and cannot do. Whether it’s going to town at the weekends or going to school, public transport as a whole is very important in Plymouth.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to raise awareness of the achievements that young people make. In contributing to the community and volunteering, it is important that the minority of bad instances don’t smear the work of what the majority of young people achieve.

What is your future career ambition?

I would like to study languages at university and join the foreign office. Hopefully not being sent to some far away country straight away! Then perhaps later on in my career, representing the country on an international and global stage!

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I have a great respect for all leaders who have battled to get their voices heard in the power houses of our country, as young MYPs and DMYPs we know how hard that can be in our own constituencies.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

There is a lot that I could say but I will simply remind the Government that we are politicians of tomorrow and deserve respect!
