Name:

Status: Deputy MYP

Constituency:

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I have an interest in all areas of politics but am particularly passionate about issues to do with the environment, media, transport and more involvement of young people in society - which links in with the 'Votes at 16' campaign - which is currently supported by the Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown and the Power Commission.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

In my constituency of Lichfield & Chase in South Staffordshire, transport and provision of affordable things to do are the major issues. Some other issues are environmental issues (Lichfield was the 1st place in the UK to have Doorstep Recycling, which is highly successful) and education (EMA and Sex and Relationships Education).

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

During my term of office I would like to see more awareness of UKYP, Local Council to listen to young people more and accept UKYP as an important link with young people. I would like better transport provision for every young person in my local area and across the UK and the introduction of the national youth card. I would like to see a better portrayal of young people in the media and, finally, more affordable things for people to do across the UK.

What is your future career ambition?

I have no fixed plans as yet but hopefully a job where I can make a real difference for ordinary people, a real positive contribution to society. I would like to make big decisions for people and challenge big decision makers at the very highest level of government.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

I have a few public figures that I admire and that make a valuable contribution to society, but I cannot name one single person on their own. I admire lots of different people that are not in the public eye. They're more people that I have met and the people that advise me on things in my life.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

Listen to the voters more and get real facts of what is going on. Listen to the UKYP and young people, they are the future!!!
