Name: Abbiey Seaman
Position: MYP
Constituency: Walsall
Which political issues are you
most passionate about?
The political issue that I am most passionate about is the ‘Every Child Matters’ programme as this is enables every child to have a the same opportunities and education as each other regardless of their background or ability. Not only does it safeguard them so every child and young person is entitled to a safe place to live and be educated.
What do you feel is the biggest
issue for young people in your constituency?
The main issue for young people in my constituency is the use of knife and gun crime and the young people of Walsall belonging or becoming involved with gangs. As this was a highly popular choice for the young people of Walsall of things they thought most needed to be improved.
What do you hope to achieve during
your term of office?
In my term of office I am hoping to make a statement on how knife and gun crime affects certain young peoples’ lives within the Walsall Borough. I also hope to make small improvements or differences to these young people.
What is your future career ambition?
In the future I plan to work with youth offenders and hard to reach young people giving advice and guidance and sign posting them to a better future.
Which public figure do you most
admire and why?
Sara Payne, who campaigned for Sarah’s Law to be introduced. She is a woman that went through complete devastation after finding out her daughter Sarah had been murdered by sex offenders. It was from this that the law was created and all sex offenders would be named.
