Name: Ash Silverstone

Position: Deputy MYP

Constituency:
Shropshire

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

Giving young people a voice in what affects them and their lives! At the end of the day we are the future leaders of the world, therefore we need to be engaged in politics at an early stage so that we are fully prepared to take on leadership roles which will keep Britain in the forefront of global politics.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

My constituency is a rural one and transport is a major factor but the biggest issue my constituents face is that there is a lack of things to do in the evenings and the things that are already available are too far away to access by public transport easily!

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

During my term in office I hope that I will be able to empower the young people in the UK to stand up to things which concern them in all areas of their lives. That is the reason I got involved in politics because I had many concerns but didn't have an opportunity to tell people who may be able to help to change those things. So I see myself as that person for young people to talk to and help them to get things changed in our lives.

What is your future career ambition?

My future career ambition is to lead this nation in to a new era of equality for all regardless of race, gender and walk of life. I would like to become Prime Minister to truly be able to empower people and enable them to have a say in their lives and their country!

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

My most admired public figure is Barack Obama because although he faced many adversities and setbacks in his life, he was truly relentless and did not give up no matter what obstacles stood in his way. He knew that he could be the voice of change in the country he loves and in all corners of the earth! In the future I would like to emulate him and lead this country into a new era of opportunity and equality.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

That we are here and that we’re not going away because we too should have a voice in things which concern us even though we are unable to vote! We are still human and still want to be heard.
