Name: Harrison Carter

Position: MYP

Constituency:
Sheffield

--------------------------------------------------------

Which political issues are you most passionate about?

I’m most passionate about university being a privilege for those who are academically able, not for those who can afford it. Also, I hold strong opinions regarding young people and the way they are portrayed in the media.

What do you feel is the biggest issue for young people in your constituency?

The biggest issue for young people in my constituency is the lack of provision available to allow them to get their voice heard. That’s why I stood as an MYP, and with my fellow MYPs in Sheffield hope to eradicate this problem.

What do you hope to achieve during your term of office?

I hope to achieve what I’ve promised to my constituents but generally, to allow for an easier route to policy makers for young people in my constituency through myself and the organisation I represent.  I aim to stand up for, and protect the opinions of young people where I live.

What is your future career ambition?

I would like to go to university and read medicine, moving into a career in politics later on in my life.

Which public figure do you most admire and why?

There isn’t a particular public figure that I admire, but there is a bunch who I admire because of their fine efforts in shaping this country. The politicians involved in the Liberal Reforms and Social Reforms (which are a large basis of what we have nowadays in terms of free health care and National Insurance) as they were pioneers in British Government interventionism.

If there was one message you could send to the government, what would it be?

I suppose people would expect me to write something to do with young people, but I want to send a message that applies to the whole population.  I want to tell them to recognise changes and problems in our society, before they compromise the way we live, and become profoundly dangerous for the average citizen.

Additional comments:

I will do what I can to stand up for what I and my constituents believe.
