UKYP is committed to ensuring that each young person across the UK, receives the same high-level standard of sex and relationship education (SRE). We believe that although this is a challenging task, we are willing to commit the time and resources to making our campaign a success.
Why is SRE so important?
The standard of SRE in schools is of an unacceptable standard, a matter which must be taken seriously since the consequences in society are so great. |
 |
Currently schools are only required to teach the biological aspects of sex, contraception and sexually transmitted infections and these are often covered in science lessons.
What can you do?
You can start by clicking on any of the links to the left; to sign our national petition, write to the Minister, and complete our onlince survey.
We want this to change and will continue a campaign with the voices of over 21,000 young people behind us. With your help we will strive to create a comprehensive SRE program, in conjunction with the Government, which can be followed in educational establishments and by those in hard to reach areas.
We aim to make this campaign a local, regional and national issue and use our contacts and influence within local and national circles to ensure a satisfactory outcome.
 |
Our ultimate goal is one which is long term. However, through effective and sustained campaigning and distribution of information in the short term we will raise awareness of this serious issue and, in the process, help to improve the lives of young people in the UK. |
